This walk runs through the woodland surrounding Baitings Reservoir off the A58 and the adjoining fields at Ripponden. There are excellent views of the surrounding moors and down the valley towards Ryburn Reservoir. The walk is 2 miles long and a podcast guide is available. | ||||

Access There is a car park at Baitings Reservoir off the A58, Rochdale Road at the north-east corner of the reservoir, point 1. Alternative parking is available at Heights car park to the south of the reservoir, 1km from the A58. From this car park you need to take the path below the car park to join the walk at Higher Wormald at point 4. The walk uses unsurfaced paths through woods and fields, on the longer route there is one steep climb and some steps. | ||||

Route From the car park 1, enter the path through the kissing gate in the south-east corner; follow the path between the fence and the wall down the hill and steps to point 2. Cross the stile over the wall and follow the path to the stile over the fence onto the public right of way at point 3. Here turn left to join the walk round Ryburn Reservoir or turn right over the bridge crossing the River Ryburn and follow the path up the hill to point 4 at Higher Wormald. Follow the path to the right to point 5 at Upper Schole Carr and here turn right towards Baiting's Dam. At point 6 the path splits; take the shorter route back to the car via the reservoir embankment, or turn left along the wooded reservoir edge and follow the path to point 7. Go through the gate and turn right and cross the narrow road bridge to point 8 and enter the wood via the metal kissing gate. Follow the path through the woodland to point 9 at the road. Take the footpath back to the car park at point 1.
