Route Turn left out of the car park Point 1 and through a gate and uphill along the tarmac access road until you reach the reservoir embankment on your left at point 2. Continue on the access road past the house and barn on the right onto an unsurfaced walled track. Follow this track, keeping the reservoir on your left. Pass a path on the right, signed Calder Way. At point 3 keep on then track to the head of the reservoir. When you reach the end of the reservoir, the track splits. Take the left hand fork and in 70 metres turn left, over a stone step stile to the right at point 4 of a gate onto a path marked ‘Yorkshire Water Permissive Path’. This path follows the southern edge of the reservoir, running parallel to a catchwater on the right for much of its length. Across the reservoir to the left, the commanding Stoodley Pike Monument can be seen on the horizon. Just before the reservoir embankment, a small footbridge crosses the catchwater. Walk 20 metres further and turn left, cross over a large steel bridge point 5 and walk over the reservoir embankment to the far end. Go through the gate at point 2 and turn right, following the tarmac access road downhill back to the car park. OS Map: Explorer Map OL21 | ||||
