Route Leave the car park point 1 heading east on the track uphill and cross the first wall by a stile/kissing gate beside a field gate. Soon after this the footpath turns left downhill, crosses a footbridge and after a few hundred metres rejoins the main track at the corner of the reservoir near the ling-thatched barn point 2. Turn left to follow the track around the eastern side of the reservoir, past the ruin of Grimwith House at point 3. Half way along the northern side, the track stops and the walk continues through a kissing gate on a rough moorland path at point 4. Where the path splits keep to the upper route. After a third of a mile a kissing gate leads onto a stoned track. Follow the track around the north western corner of the reservoir across two substantial wooden bridges at point 5 to the western side. At point 6 the route turns left off the main track down to a barn at Far Rams Close. Pass the barn and follow the track to a walled lane before turning left over a stile and crossing the dam. At the eastern end of the dam at point 7, join the access road, turning left and return to the car park at point 1.
