Fishing
We manage some of the best fisheries in the north of England at our reservoirs at Damflask and in the Washburn Valley. We sell a range of tickets to suit all anglers.
Fishing at Damflask
Damflask is one of Yorkshire's largest premier fisheries, a 116 acre reservoir which boasts a coarse and pike fishery. Situated within the stunning Peak District National Park it is 15 minutes drive to the west of Sheffield city centre. Roadside parking is available and access to the reservoir is also possible by bus.
The reservoir can be fished for bream, chub, dace, perch, pike and roach and is open all year round from dawn until one hour after sunset. In recent years we have restocked the reservoir with over 100 bream, some weighing more than 4lbs each. At a match held at the reservoir in 2005, an individual record of 70lbs was set by one angler.
Anglers can purchase day and monthly tickets from a machine situated on the south side of the reservoir near the dam. More than 7,000 day tickets are sold annually.
- Day Ticket £4.40
- Concessionary Day Ticket £3.30
- 2 Month Ticket £16.00
- 2 Month Concessionary Ticket £9.90

- Concessionary 6 month ticket £29.00*
* These tickets are available from the Bailiff only.
Tickets purchased at the site are valid for Damflask only and not any other water. Lost tickets cannot be reimbursed.
For more information on the fishery and for details of on-site tuition or competitions please call the fishing bailiff on 07952 485798 (Damflask only).
Fishing in the Washburn Valley
Fewston, Swinsty and Thruscross reservoirs offer exceptionally high quality trout fishing in a stunning rural setting. The game fishery is easily accessible from the Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate, Otley and Leeds.
Each reservoir has at least one car park and toilet facilities are available at Swinsty Moor next to the fishing office.
Swinsty and Fewston provide 310 acres of water stocked with 1-4lb Rainbow Trout, with bag limits in place. These waters are stocked regularly throughout the season.
Both reservoirs are part of the raw water supply system and the level of water can vary. This and the size of the waters will test the skill of the angler.
Thruscross reservoir further north, in a wilder remote setting, provides 140 acres of water as a superb wild brown trout (catch and return) fly fishery. Fishing is limited to designated areas.
Tickets are available, by either cash or card payment, from the machine in the fishing office located at Swinsty Moor car park, near the western end of Fewston dam wall.
Please note: The ticket machine at Swinsty Moor car park is temporarily unable to accept card payments, so please use cash only. Alternatively, please speak to one of the fishing bailiffs if you'd like to purchase a ticket.
During the summer one ticket covers all three reservoirs and both Swinsty and Fewston in the winter. Spinning is allowed on Swinsty during the winter.
Discounts are available for children under the age of 16, pensioners and the disabled. Disabled facilities are available.
Coaching and equipment hire is also available by arrangement with the warden.
